Canon Speedlight 580EXII
The Canon Speedlite 580EXII Flash is Canon's top of the line speedlight, which features a host of improvements from the 580EX including a metal hot shoe with an improved locking mechanism for added durability, an external metering sensor for non-TTL automatic flash exposure control and a PC socket for use with non-dedicated slave triggers. Fully compatible with all EOS SLRs, the 580EXII is gasketed for dust and moisture resistance, making it possible for users of EOS-1 class digital SLRs and many L-series EF lenses to use flash safely when shooting in dusty or wet environments. This speedlight has a recycle time 20% quicker than the 580EX and incorporates a Built-In Wireless Transmitter Which Can Control Other Speedlite 580EX, 420EX and 550EX Units Set Up As Slave Units.
|
| |
Canon Speedlight 580EX
The 580 EX was succeeded by the Speedlite 580EX II in early 2008. The flashes in the 500 EX series can act as a controller that enables wireless control of other flashes. They also have a slightly stronger maximum flash output and a more durable casing than the 430EXII.
Key features of the 580 EX II that make it desirable than the 580EX are a built-in PC terminal, metal foot, faster recycling time and a much easier-to-use battery cover. Output power however is the same. |
| |
Canon Speedlight 430EXII
The 430EXII is the ultimate Speedlite for enthusiast DSLR photographers. Shorter recycling time (approx 20% shorter than the 430EX)offers users advanced speed capabilities, whilst silent recycling helps in discreet situations such as weddings. The Speedlite 430EX II can be used as a wireless slave flash unit triggered by an appropriate master flash unit. The small size and high power output make it an ideal slave flash for creating a portable studio with multiple flashguns. Covering 1-9 AF points, the Speedlite 430EX II can emit an infra-red focusing beam providing contrast for the lens to focus on when shooting in low light conditions.

Nikon Speedlight SB900
The SB-900 is Nikon's top of the line, high-performance Speedlight developed as the successor to the hugely successful Nikon SB-800. Practical functionality was emphasized in designing the SB-900, especially evident when used with Nikon digital SLR cameras compatible with the Nikon Creative Lighting System. It provides a wide 17-200 mm auto zoom range (expanded from the SB-800’s 24-105mm), three illumination patterns, newly designed, streamlined operation with a full-information LCD panel, and AF-Assist illumination compatible with new-generation AF sensors. The SB-900 has an improved booster circuit for high-speed recycle time. In addition, the latest firmware can be downloaded to a memory card −a world’s first for flash units, assuring that the SB-900 can accept technological advancements. The SB-900 serves as the new core for the Nikon Creative Lighting System when used in combination with current Nikon digital SLRs, and it supports Advanced Wireless Lighting as a master or a remote Speedlight, inviting photographers to explore the many creative possibilities. The best of the best right here.

Nikon Speedlight SB700
The SB-700 is a compact-sized, easy-to-use flash offering multiple functions. While the majority of digital-SLR cameras are equipped with a built-in flash, user creativity and expression is strictly limited as these built-in flashes are only able to light a subject from a single side and angle. While external flash units are tools for increasing creativity by maximising lighting possibilities, many users still find them difficult to use and think of it only as a way to capture images of dark or dimly scenes.
To allow users who are inexperienced with the use of external flash units to enjoy the benefits of more creative lighting, Nikon has developed the easy-to-use SB-700. The new SB-700 incorporates functions inherited from the SB-900, which has been extremely well received by professional and advanced amateur digital-SLR camera users.
Smaller than the SB-600, the multi-functional SB-700 is much easier to use especially for beginners. As a result, the SB-700 is able to respond to the wide-ranging needs of Nikon digital-SLR camera users, who not only possess a broad range of skills, but also seek to increase their individual power of expression through photographs that truly accentuate light. |

Nikon Speedlight SB600
The SB600 has been around for many years (first released in 1994 I believe), finally being upgraded in 2010 by the SB700. The least powerful of the Nikon flashes we have here but is a fantastic workhorse flash. If you need a flash to work in slave mode, or just a 2nd strobe, this could be the one for you. It will work brilliantly as your main on camera flash and should have enough power for most lighting needs.
